Diego J. Sanchez is born 31 December 1981 is an American mixed martial artist with a background in wrestling and Gaidojutsu, system of submission wrestling developed by his longtime trainer Greg Jackson.
Sanchez was the winner of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series and is currently fighting as a welterweight with the Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC. From 2007, 2009 he lived in San Diego, where he studied at the Arena MMA gym and the University of Jiu Jitsu with Saulo Ribeiro.
Diego has a daughter named Gheslyn and was engaged to Ali Sonoma. The couple separated. Diego is an avid fan of personal power guru Tony Robbins' teaching and occasional meditation sessions in the rain and the sea, which he says allows him to absorb energy from the elements.
His next fight was scheduled for 21 February 2009 that the UFC 95 against Joe Stevenson in the lightweight division. Education for fighting Sanchez worked with a professional boxer Joey Gilbert and Lupe Aquino, Brazilian fighting experts Xander and Saulo Ribeiro and wrestling coach Bob Anderson.
